I grew up in Maine, falling in love with the game the way we all do, by playing with family and friends. I played on the golf team at Bates College and along that journey I had the opportunity to play for the University of Edinburgh's Golf Team as well.
I knew then I would pursue a career in Golf and I worked summers at Clubs close to my home. In 1990 I stretched my wings and took a position at a busy Marriott resort in Orlando, where I met my future wife Tracy. Eventually I was transferred to Ipswich Country Club in Ipswich, Massachusetts, where I became the Head Golf Professional in 1992.
Like all young PGA Professionals I still had an urge to play, and I left Ipswich to give it my best shot on the Tommy Armour Tour. Well...I grew from that effort, relocated, and buckled down in the Jacksonville area as an Assistant Professional at Sawgrass Country Club. I enjoyed the private club experience, became the Head Professional at Sawgrass in 1997, and moved on to Deerwood Country Club as its Director of Golf in 2000.
In 2003, Tracy and I found an opportunity to become the owners/operators of a former PGA Tour host site, Hidden Hills Golf Club, in Jacksonville. We are still here, love what we do, and cherish our four wonderful children — Russell, Patrick, Joe and Katherine.
Along the way I became involved in the Northern Chapter of the North Florida PGA and eventually assumed Officer positions with the Chapter and the Section. I involved myself with the PGA of America wherever I could. I served on multiple committees and task forces, and from 2007 to 2011 I was a member of the PGA Board of Control. For the past four years I have been honored to represent District 13 on the PGA's Board of Directors.
I love the PGA. I received the PGA of America's Horton Smith Award in 2015. I am a two-time PGA Professional of the Year in the North Florida Section and recipient of the Horton Smith and Bill Strausbaugh Awards there as well.
I want to continue my service to the PGA as your next elected Officer and I need your help. I am eager to meet you and start working together to make our Association the best it can be. Let's get going!
